McClellan Badiyi was formed in 2009 by Robert McClellan and Bahram Badiyi. The two principals established their headquarters in Pasadena, California. The experiences of the principals reflect an extensive history. Reflecting back to early 1966 when Robert McClellan established his practice as the sole principal of Ainsworth & McClellan. The firm later became known as “McClellan, Cruz, Gaylord” otherwise known as “MCG Architects” which was successful in a practice that extended across the United States and abroad as far as Taiwan, China and New Zealand. McClellan Badiyi’s maturity of experience and wealth of construction knowledge is the solid foundation for providing superior design and planning solutions that are sustainable, efficient, functional and comply with the client’s program and budget constraints.

A licensed Architect since 1962 and has over fifty years of diversified experience in Architecture, Planning, Entitlements, and the procedures of the governmental/developer process. Experience includes the principal of a design-build Architectural /Construction firm with a staff of thirty five people. He was the founder and Senior Executive of McClellan/Cruz/Gaylord (MCG-Architects) with offices in seven areas of the United States as well as an association with Architects in Taiwan and Mainland China. Work performed in areas from China, Taiwan, New Zealand, Hawaii, and as far East as the Mississippi River.
Active in the Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley, as well as the five County Los Angeles area with Architectural work and citizen participation, Bob was a member and Chairperson of the Pasadena Planning Commission, Design Review Commission, as well as participating on many design committees and specific plans. In addition, he was involved with the design of many redevelopment projects such as recycling a whole city block in Old Pasadena into the One Colorado Shopping Complex, the reconstruction of the old Huntington Hotel in Pasadena into a Ritz-Carlton operation, and the conversion of an existing Robinson’s Department Store into the first two-level Target Store. He has acted as a consultant to local communities in both a design and negotiating capacity. He currently sits on the Planning Commission of the City of Monrovia.
Projects that Robert has designed include Shopping Centers, Garden Offices, Hotels and Multi-family Housing, Salvation Army and other Civic buildings such as Public Libraries, Churches and Fire Stations.

Bahram Badiyi
Principal & Director of Design
Bahram Badiyi received his Bachelor and Master in Architecture in 1984 and 1987 from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has worked as Principal in charge of design and Director of Architecture for McClellan and Associates and later McClellan Badiyi Associates since May of 2006
Bahram’s extensive design and construction experience in institutional, commercial retail and residential projects has enabled him to provide clients with highly successful and sophisticated design solutions which are both high profile, iconic and practical. His design of many major buildings while he was member of other architectural groups/firms as well as those he has completed on his own firm, McClellan Badiyi Associates have received wide recognition for their beauty, balance and harmony alongside of functionality and budget efficiency. Bahram received a prestigious AIA award in Dec of 2013 from the Foothill/Pasadena Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. At the same month he also received another prestigious award from MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science and Art) Organization for his teaching contributions and programs he has presented in the field of Architecture.
Bahram is also a master artist and his drawings and watercolors are extension of his personal design ideas and conviction expressed in abstract and concrete/natural forms. His work has been exhibited in Los Angeles Art Association and other galleries in greater southern California.
Alongside of his practice and art work, Bahram has been an educator since 1994 for various community colleges in the Los Angeles area. He was the Department Chair for the Architecture and Construction for the College of the Canyons from 2000 to 2003. Based on his professional real world experience, Los Angeles Valley College gave him the task of developing and obtaining approval for two new programs, one for Construction Management and the other for Solar Energy Design and Management. Both programs have received approval from the State of California and are being taught providing the students with associate degrees.
